Entry Qualification

Long

  • 1. Be aware of the race distance and the characteristics of running in the mountainous area and do enough training.
  • 2. Have the ability to deal with any problems that may occur in this type of race.
  • 3. Being able to deal with problems that may occur in mountainous areas and bad weather (low temperature, strong winds, rain, or snow) without relying on others.
  • 4. Be aware that the event committee is not responsible for the problems 1 - 3 above.
  • 5. If you face safety issues in your activities in nature, you must deal with them according to your abilities.
  • 6. On the public road that will be the race course, follow the traffic regulations since there are no road closures.
  • 7. Must be high school students or older who have confidence in finishing within the time limit without getting lost in the whole race course.
    (* For those under 18 years old, parental permission and signature are necessary.)
  • 8. Must be a finisher of more than 30 kilometers of trail running race within the past four years. (If not, the condition is waived by participating in a trial run held by the organizer before the race.)

Short

Entry Fee

  • Long  13,000 yen(including issuing completion certificate, participation award, etc.)

Award Categories

1-3rd place to male and female in each section
- Age group of under 49 years old
- Age group of 50 years old or older

Race Rules

  • 1. The ranking order will be determined by the participant with the shortest time on each course.
  • 2. The race will have a time limit for each gate, and basically, any participants who exceed this time limit must follow the instructions of the staff to stop the race and descend the mountain.
  • 3. If you exceed the end time of the race after passing through each gate, please follow the instructions of the staff to stop the race and descend the mountain. Do not descend the mountain without notifying the staff.
  • 4. If the staff finds it difficult for you to continue the race, you may have to stop it.
  • 5. If you wish to quit the race, be sure to inform the staff nearby. Failure to do so will result in your refusal to participate in the next year's race.
  • 6. If the weather gets worse during the race, the race may be canceled.
  • 7. You can use sticks, canes, etc., after 5km from the start line or in emergencies such as injuries. Otherwise, it is prohibited to protect nature and safety management.
  • 8. If you don’t carry a must-have item, we will add 60 minutes to your goal time. Therefore, you will be disqualified if your goal time exceeds the time limit after addition.
  • 9. The following runners will be disqualified.
    ・A runner who violates nature protection
    ・A runner who violates the race rules and doesn’t follow the instructions of the staff
    ・A runner who falsifies participation qualification
    ・A runner who doesn’t wear a competition number
    ・A runner who throws away trash during the race
    ・A runner who does cheat

Notes

  • 1. Be sure to bring your passport (a copy or photo is fine) on the day.
  • 2. You can’t participate in the race if you miss the race registration.
  • 3. In the event of an accident during the race, we will only provide first-aid treatment, and we will not be responsible for the others.
  • 4. The race may be canceled if we judge that it’s impossible to continue due to bad weather. In this case, we will give you the entry award but will not refund the entry fee.
  • 5. We will not refund the entry fee in case of absence due to personal circumstances.
  • 6. In addition to the required items, please bring all necessary items, such as food and water, at your discretion.
  • 7. All participants must race with their number plate attached to their t-shirt at chest level so it is visible from the front during the race.
  • 8. The organizer reserves the right to publish images, records, photographs, articles, etc., in newspapers, magazines, television, the Internet, etc., during the race.
  • 9. Please follow the staff's instructions and use the baggage storage areas. However, please take care of your valuables and breakables yourself. All care, no responsibility.
  • 10. Please take your trash home with you.

Course Map

Long Course

Sarubino hot Spring – Saikyozan – Tashiroike – Mt.Reizan – Tsuge Citizen Center – Kitauchiyama – Okuyono Park – Tsuge Citizen Center – Tashiroike – Sarubino Hot Spring

The course is 48km distance with an accumulated elevation gain/loss of 2500m. In the first half, you will climb approximately 400 meters from Sarubino Hot Spring (approximately 250m above sea level) to Saikyozan (682m above sea level), but after that, it’s a high-speed course that you can run.

The middle part is a full mountain course with rough terrain, running on the Aburahidake mountain range, located at the southern end of the Suzuka Mountains. Physical strength and techniques are required. The latter half is a course to return to Sarubino Hot Spring from Mt. Reizan to Tashiroike, passing the Tokai Nature Trail.

On the course, various plants and historical ruins related to ninjas appeared in the Tenshō Iga War. We hope that you enjoy it and cherish your thoughts on history romance during the race.

Short Course

Sarubino Hot Spring – Saikyozan – Tashiroike - Mt. Reizan – Tashiroike – Sarubino Hot Spring

The course is 22km distance with an accumulated elevation gain/loss of 1100m.

Goes up Mt. Saikyo, follows the ridge from there, runs around Tashiro Pond to Reizan, passes the south peak of Mt. Reizan, descends to Tashiro Pond again, follows the Tokai Nature Trail, and returns to Sarubino-onsen.

This course is on the relatively gentle terrain of Aoyama and Nunobiki and is easy for beginners to run. It also has course guidance, so even first-time runners can participate.

During the race, enjoy looking out over the entire Iga basin from Saikyozan and the colorful nature of Iga, such as the autumn leaves reflected in Tashiroike and the fluffy trails with fallen leaves.

Rules on Nature Conservation

  • 1. This race course is designated as a national park with various plants and animals. Please be aware that this race is held in a precious natural environment following the below rules.
  • 2. Do not run on the path or roads except the course. There may be restrictions on overtaking and other restrictions wherever necessary for nature protection.
  • 3. Do not collect or damage animals, plants, fungi, rocks, etc., on the course and in all areas.
  • 4. Shortcutting the corner of the course is prohibited as it will damage plants.
  • 5. Do not drink spring, waterfall, or river water on the course.
    If you feel sick after drinking, the committee will not be responsible.
  • 6. Do not throw away trash.
  • 7. Please use the toilet at each aid station. Please use the portable toilet and take it home if you can’t go to the toilet nearby.
  • 8. When participating in the race, please use public transportation or share a car to make it less traffic in this area and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Rescue and Medical Support

  • 1. If you see a runner or staff for the race who can’t move due to injury, illness, etc., give priority to help them and contact the staff nearby or the race office. Contact information for the office will be given to you when you receive the number plate.
  • 2. To ensure the race is conducted safely, we will prepare as much as possible for course maintenance, rescue, and medical assistance at the race office. However, runners should be fully aware of the dangers involved in the nature of trail running and participate in the race at their own risk against injuries, illnesses, and accidents.
  • 3. The rescue center is located at every aid station, with a doctor or nurse waiting. These stations are connected to the race office by radio and telephone.
    There may be restrictions on overtaking and other restrictions wherever necessary for nature protection.
  • 4. Place race marshals on the course, and they will rescue an injured person nearby and do first aid.
  • 5. Doctors and rescuers can stop the race for runners who can't continue the race anymore. The IC chip and the number plate will be collected at that time.
  • 6. The rescue may take a long time to arrive depending on the circumstances and situations. Be sure to equip yourself in case you get stuck in the mountain due to trouble.
  • 7. Once a doctor or first-aider has treated you, be sure to see a doctor after the race.
  • 8. If you drop out of the race, you can return to the finish line by a support bus or car. If you call a cab or other vehicle privately, it will be at your own expense.
  • 9. We will call a rescue team if we determine that you need rescue. In that case, you will be responsible for the costs incurred.
  • 10. The event organizer will get accident insurance in case of a runner’s accident, injury, or illness.

Aid Station and Private Support

  • 1. Snacks and beverages will be available at the aid stations. However, since the distance and cumulative elevation gain to each aid station will be significant, please be sure to bring enough water and food you need. (Please be sure to read and strictly adhere to the information in the "Equipment").
  • 2. Private support by family members or friends of the participant is allowed, but do not disturb other participants.
  • 3. When we determine that someone providing private support for you is disturbing other participants, you may be dropped out of the race.

IC Chip

  • 1. We manage the number of runners and finishers and check passing at each aid station and checkpoint by IC chip.
  • 2. The IC chip enables the identification of the name, the runner's record, and the identification of the individual.
  • 3. Please put the number plate in the position where the number can be confirmed from the front.
  • 4. Return the IC chip to the nearby staff when you default the race.
  • 5. If you lose the IC chip, you will be charged a compensation (Approximately 4,000 yen). Please be sure to return it after the race.

Guidance on the Course

  • 1. With the land owner's and manager's permission, we arrange minimum course marking with tapes, display signs, and staff.
  • 2. We place signs for the course guide, ropes, and other hazards in mountainous areas to reduce risks, and staff will also be there that follow their instructions.
  • 3. At intersections and crossings, staff may stop runners. Follow their instructions.
  • 4. We arrange course marking tapes and guide signboards right before the race and remove them completely within one month after the race.

Drop out

  • 1. If you wish to drop out of the race, please notify the staff and return the IC chip.
  • 2. If you can walk by yourself, walk to the next or previous aid station. If you cannot walk, follow the instructions of the staff or race committee.
    * It may take time to accommodate drop-outs from the course. If you are not confident of your physical strength, please tell staff at the aid station that you’re dropping out.
  • 3. You can return to the venue by bus or car that we arrange.
  • 4. If you are missing, you will be searched as a distressed person. So please be sure to notify the staff before you drop out of the race.

Prohibited Matter

  • 1. If a runner violates the following rules or doesn’t follow the staff's instructions, they may be disqualified and unable to continue the race.
  • 2. Intentional destruction of the nature of the mountains.
  • 3. Shortcut or running off the course.
  • 4. Dumping of garbage.
  • 5. Cheating (use of vehicles, running in place of someone, or any other activity that violates the law).
  • 6. Not carrying IC chip.
  • 7. Not following the instructions of the staff, doctors, nurses, and rescuers
  • 8. Continue running after the gate time

Runner's Responsibility

  • 1. Be fully aware of the distance of the race and the special characteristics of running continuously in mountainous terrain, and must have the necessary training.
  • 2. Be capable of handling any problems that may arise in this race, and fully understand that you are responsible for your actions.
  • 3. You must be able to cope by yourself, without relying on others, with the problems and weather conditions (low temperatures, strong winds, rain, snow) that can be expected in mountainous terrain.
  • 4. Be able to cope with physical and mental problems caused by fatigue, internal organ and digestive system problems, muscle soreness, and minor injuries.
  • 5. Be fully aware that when you are faced with safety issues during activities in nature, you must respond according to your own abilities.

Organizer's Responsibility

  • 1. Install markings and signs on the course.
  • 2. Manage the safety of runners with the race staff with the duty of care and management.
  • 3. Get Liability insurance and accident insurance for all runners.
    (The organizer will provide first aid for injuries, illnesses, and other accidents during the race. However, we will not have any responsibility outside of insurance.)
  • 4. TThe accident insurance coverage that the event organizer will provide for runners' accidents and injuries will be as follows
    ●Death 3 million yen ●Hospitalization (daily) 1,000 yen ●See a doctor (daily) 1,000 yen
  • 5. In the event of force majeure or sudden accidents on the course that do not result from the participant's intentional or gross negligence, trail destruction, etc., the Executive Committee will respond to the situation.

Race Cancellation Criteria

  • 1. When a weather alert is issued.
  • 2. If it’s determined that the runners’ safety can’t be ensured, such as a landslide or falling rock during the course.
  • 3. On disaster.
  • 4. Cancellation of the race will be announced on the official website on the day of the race or at least one day before.
  • 5. When an earthquake, wind and flood damage, snowfall, incident, accident, war, or plague happens. If it’s determined that it will be difficult to hold or continue the race due to the above reasons, the organizer will decide to cancel the race. There is no continuation of the race due to the change of the course and no postponement of the race date. Regardless of before or after the race starts, we will not refund the entry fee. We will give you the participation award.

Portrait Rights such as Photos Taken during the Race

  • 1. Right to publish and portrait rights of video, photos, articles, records, location information, applicant's name, age, and address (country, prefecture, and city) on television, newspaper, magazine, Internet, etc., belong to the organizer.

Equipment

  • 1. We may check you during the race to see if you have the must-have items with you.
  • 2. If you don’t have must-have items with you, a 60-minute penalty will be added to your goal time. Therefore, you will be disqualified if you exceed the time limit after the addition.

The race committee may contact you before and during the race in case of an emergency. *There may be places where the signal is difficult to reach.
